The program consists of five recent works composed by Joseph Landers, the 2010 University Scholar. These works will be performed by Music Department faculty and students, as well as guest artists from the Alabama Symphony Orchestra. Included on the program will be the premiere performance of Tres Sonetos de Neruda, with guest artist tenor Doff Procter.

Tuesday, January 18, 7:30 p.m. LeBaron Recital Hall
This faculty solo recital presented by tenor Roderick George, will highlight song settings of poetry by Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906), the first African American to gain national eminence as a poet. Additionally, it will feature Italian songs by Gaetano Donizetti and German arias from the operetta repertoire of Franz Lehar. George will be accompanied by Cynthia Jones. This recital is free and the public is invited.
